wFileManager is a self-hosted file manager for a Linux server you control. It supports browsing, uploading, downloading, editing, moving, copying, renaming, deleting, trash recovery, and application updates. It is separate from the temporary File Manager access offered with Shared Hosting.

Before installation

  • Use a supported Linux server with administrative shell access.
  • Get the current installation instructions from the wFileManager product page.
  • Back up important data.
  • Choose which directory the application may manage.
  • Prepare the hostname, firewall, reverse proxy, and TLS configuration for remote access.
Do not reuse the server root password as the wFileManager administrator password.

Safe operation

  • Use a unique administrator password.
  • Use HTTPS for remote access.
  • Keep the operating system and wFileManager updated.
  • Treat delete, overwrite, and bulk move actions as destructive.
  • Keep an independent backup; trash recovery is not a backup.
If administrator access is lost, use the documented password-reset procedure from the server console.
