# Shared Hosting

> Order and manage cPanel or DirectAdmin Shared Hosting from the KmerHosting Dash.

Shared Hosting is managed from [Customer Dash → Shared Hosting](https://dash.kmerhosting.com/shared-hosting/). The live catalog shows the plans, control panel, limits, price, billing period, and current availability.

## Choose a plan

KmerHosting offers cPanel and DirectAdmin Shared Hosting. Available plan families can include standard hosting, PHP, WordPress, Node.js, Python, and Laravel.

Before ordering, review:

* the control panel and plan family;
* storage and other resource limits;
* billing period and final price;
* domain and DNS requirements;
* current availability.

Free Hosting has its own limits and inactivity lifecycle. See [Free Hosting](https://kmerhosting.com/docs/services/free-hosting.md).

## Included first-year domain

A paid Shared Hosting subscription purchased for **12 months** includes one eligible first-year domain registration.

Eligible extensions are **.com, .org, .pro, and .net**. Premium domains are excluded. The benefit is not included with Free Hosting and is not issued again when the hosting subscription renews.

You can:

* register the included domain during checkout;
* start with a domain you already own; or
* start with a temporary KmerHosting subdomain and claim the eligible domain later from **Dash → Domains** during the original first year.

From the second year, the domain uses the normal live KmerHosting renewal price. Domain renewal remains separate from Shared Hosting renewal.

## Extra storage

Paid active Shared Hosting services can add extra disk space from the Dash.

* **+30 GB per block**
* **\$1 per block per month**
* maximum **10 blocks** (**+300 GB**)
* auto-renew must be enabled before purchasing extra storage

The first charge is prorated for the remaining part of the current hosting period. The extra storage then becomes part of the service's recurring renewal amount.

KmerHosting updates the existing hosting account quota; a separate hosting package is not created for each storage block.

Reducing or removing extra storage is a downgrade and requires KmerHosting Support.

## Manage an active service

The Shared Hosting workspace shows service status, domain, control panel, credentials, DNS guidance, usage information, renewal controls, eligible upgrades, cancellation controls, and temporary panel or File Manager access where supported.

Back up important files and databases before major application, DNS, migration, or runtime changes.

## Downgrades

Any downgrade or reduction of a plan, storage, bandwidth, accounts, databases, email capacity, or another included resource requires KmerHosting Support.

Include:

* the subject of the request; and
* the email address of the affected KmerHosting account.

Support reviews the requested reduction to avoid incompatible limits, service inconsistencies, or data loss.

## Developer access

Supported Shared Hosting automation is documented in the [REST API](https://kmerhosting.com/docs/developer/rest-api.md), [SDK](https://kmerhosting.com/docs/developer/sdk.md), [CLI](https://kmerhosting.com/docs/developer/cli.md), [MCP](https://kmerhosting.com/docs/developer/mcp.md), and [API Reference](https://kmerhosting.com/docs/api-reference).
